Kopi Luwak – Civet Coffee

While Kopi Luwak is the rarest coffee in the world (and the most expensive) it is not unique as there is another coffee on the market which has also passed through the digestive tract of an animal.  The alternative coffee is Weasel Coffee.  While this is similar to Civet Coffee there are two key differences.

Firstly, this coffee originates from Vietnam rather than Indonesia (which is where kopi luwak originates).  The second important difference is that the coffee bean isn’t defecated by the weasel but instead is regurgitated.  So instead of being cat poop coffee it is cat vomit coffee!  You have to admit serving either coffee at a dinner party is going to be a conversation stopper once you admit what you have just served!

Apparently, Stephen Fry gave Charles and Camilla weasel coffee as a wedding present.  Unfortunately, we have not been able to find out what their reaction was or what they thought of the coffee after they had tried it!
